Ad Konings is generally regarded as the leading expert on Malawi and Tanganyikan cichlids in their natural habitats, and also has many years of hands-on experience of keeping cichlids. An experienced SCUBA diver, he has been visiting the lakes regularly for many years and has accumulated a vast store of underwater observations and photographs. He also regularly performs field studies on Central American cichlids. He has authored numerous books and a number of scientific papers on cichlids, and travels the world lecturing on his specialises.
A Dutchman by birth, he now lives with his wife Gertrud in El Paso, Texas, where he runs his own publishing company, Cichlid Press.

Willem Heijns. Willem is 58 years of age and has been keeping cichlids well over half that time. Willem has been a member of the Dutch Cichlid Association (NVC) for 30 years and currently serves as their President.	Mary Bailey.
