We are pleased to announce a NEW way to pay your subscription, if you live in the U.K. If you have an internet or telephone bank account, you can instruct your bank to make your payment by direct transfer, this is direct from your bank account into ours. We understand that with some internet accounts it is possible to set this arrangement up much like a standing order, so the payment is made automatically ever year. To pay by this new method you will need the BCA account details, these are as follows: Lloyds TSB, Shepton Mallet branch, 5 High St, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 5AB: Sort Code : 30 : 99 : 29. Account name The British Cichlid Association. Account No: 00955687. You will be asked to provide a reference, which must consist of your Surname & Membership No, e.g. Bloggs 987 ( If you are joining as a new member & wish to pay by this method you must first contact the Membership Secretary who will provide you with a reference No to use, this must be done before contacting your bank) Do not add anything else to the reference except Surname & mem no as in these days of everything being done to suit the bank's computer rather than the bank's customers, long references will get chopped off the end of the prescribed "field" is reached. We have already discovered this during our trials of the new system.
Please make sure that you ask for the transfer to happen at the beggining of the due month, so the treasurer can confirm all the month's transfers & standing orders in a single e-mail from a single statement. Finally please let the Membership secretary know if you intend to use this system before you actually transfer any money, so that if anything goes wrong (as it most definatly will) & strange £20.00 payments start to appear on the bank statements then we will have some idea where they came from. THIS IS IN YOUR OWN INTEREST!!.
